Although the title chosen for this book rather infers that it cuts off at the end of the Medieval period, (generally accepted as A.D.1500), it actually concludes with the end of the Tudor period. The author sets out to bring the collecting of English groats within the comprehension of many more numismatists by creating an interest in as well as showing a method of collecting them, which is more accessible than many of the more learned articles published in the British Numismatic Journal. This book is about the love of coins, particularly groats, and the points to watch out for if the reader wishes to build a substantial and interesting collection.
